Hai Van Pass For Beginners? Hai Van Pass is located along the central coast of Vietnam, like a giant dragon, is one of the most scenic hillside roads in Vietnam. Hai Van Pass lies on the Hai Van Mountainside and connects the 2 major destinations of Da Nang and Hue. It is about 21 kilometers long stretch on the National Highway 1. Hai Van Pass attracts visitors who are passionate about exploring and experiencing the beautiful scenery.
With a height of 500m above sea level, and a length of 21km, the pass of these oceanic clouds gives us breathtaking landscapes of the stretched coastline of Vietnam. It is called “the ocean cloud pass” in Vietnam as the peak of the mountain is in the clouds while its foot is close to the sea. Hai Van Pass is also recognized internationally for its scenic beauty as “deserted ribbon of perfection and one of the best coastal roads in the world”.

In recent years, Hai Van Pass Top Gear is known as one of the most beautiful drives in Vietnam and a popular choice for visitors experiencing the feeling of adventure. However, it is also one of the most dangerous due to foggy or misty from the sea. Therefore, you should be careful when driving.
The Hai Van Gate (Hai Van Quan) was built in 1826 under the rule of the Nguyen dynasty’s King Minh Mang to protect the Hue Imperial Citadel and control Da Nang’s waterfront. It’s also named in Vietnamese – “Hai Van Quan” – on the side of the gate facing the Hue Imperial Citadel, and the words “Thien ha de nhat hung quan” on the other side facing Da Nang. Visitors will get the opportunity to see the architectural works bearing the imprint of the Vietnam war still preserved at Hai Van Quan gate.
From here, you will have a chance to see the marvelous panorama of Da Nang city, Tien Sa Port, Son Tra Peninsula, and the picturesque endless white-sand beaches. It’s really an great view and words can not enough to let you know how beautiful this pass is. It’s your great chance to take the amazing photos on the top of Hai Van Pass.
Best Time to Visit Hai Van Pass
The best time to visit Hai Van Pass is from January to March, the weather is these months is dry and pleasant, the temperature is usually between 22 to 28 degrees.
In April and May, the weather is dry but hot and humid during the day, it’s also a great time to visit Hai Van Pass.
From June to August is the peak season in Vietnam, there are a lot of domestic tourists come in during the summer.
From September to the end of December (wet season), the pass becomes very risky during this time because of the fog and clouds.
When visiting Hai Van Pass, make sure that you have these essential things with you: Sunscreen, long-sleeved tops, and long pants. During the cooler months, a warmer and waterproof layer is also recommended because the weather is quite cold on the top of the pass.
You can have a cup of coffee from here, take photo. And then come back to the car back to Danang hotel or Danang Airport.
